Wireless - Bluetooth Testing for Japan Type Certification

Post  Admin on Wed Nov 21, 2012 1:24 pm

The radio certification of a Bluetooth device for the Japanese market requires the following particular modes:
- Basic Rate (BDR) in the longest possible packet configuration, usually DH5
- Enhanced Data Rate (EDR) in the longest possible packet configuration, usually 3DH5. If 3DH5 is not supported, set the immediate smaller length, i.e. 2DH5.

The setting of the packet length impacts the measurement of the dwell time (max. 0.4s) which should be measured in the worst conditions, obtained with the longest packet length.

If Adaptative Frequency Hoppping (AFH) is implemented, a transmission mode in which it hops on the minimum number of channels (usually 20) centered on 2441MHz, is required for the measurement of the RF output power density.

These modes can either be set with the proper scripts received from the manufacturer, or putting the sample in test mode and configuring it with a Bluetooth tester.
(e.g. Anritsu MT8852B)
